She sits on the Communications Committee. In August 2013, while travelling with her children in Gazni, Afghanistan, she was kidnapped by the Taliban who demanded the release of four Taliban prisoners in exchange for the release of Mrs Kakar.[3] On 8 September 2013, she was freed in return for the release of several family members of Taliban fighters held in captivity.[4] References1. ^{{cite news |url = http://www.nps.edu/programs/ccs/Docs/Executive%20Summaries/Kandahar_Provincial_Overview_Jan09.pdf |title = Profile: Kandahar Profile |publisher = Navy Postgraduate School |date = January 2009 |archiveurl = https://www.webcitation.org/query?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nps.edu%2Fprograms%2Fccs%2FDocs%2FExecutive%2520Summaries%2FKandahar_Provincial_Overview_Jan09.pdf&date=2010-01-31 |archivedate = 2010-01-31 |quote = |deadurl = yes |df = }} {{DEFAULTSORT:Kakar, Fariba Ahmadi}}2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.afghan-bios.info/index.php?option=com_afghanbios&id=815&task=view&total=2779&start=1167&Itemid=2 | title=Kakar, Mrs Fabiba Ahmadi | publisher=www.afghan-bios.info | accessdate=15 August 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-23685833 | title=Afghanistan: MP Fariba Ahmadi Kakar abducted in Ghazni | publisher=BBC News | accessdate=14 August 2013}} 4. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24006680 | title=Afghan MP Fariba Ahmadi Kakar freed by the Taliban | publisher=BBC News | accessdate=9 September 2013}} 8 : Politicians of Kandahar Province|Members of the House of the People (Afghanistan)|Afghan women in politics|Living people|Kidnapped Afghan people|People from Kandahar Province|1965 births|Pashtun people |
