词条 | James Souttar |
释义 |
The son of William Souttar, of Edenville, Aberdeen, Souttar worked in Gothenburg (1863) and Stockholm (1863-6), in Sweden, and his works there include The English Church at Wallingatan in Stockholm, 1865–66, later moved to Diplomatstaden. Another building that takes place in Souttar's portfolio was the St. Nicholas Congregational Church in Aberdeen. Records say the building was erected in 1865, whilst the circular stained glass windows which are still intact say 1869. The building in 2001 was in a deteriorating, derelict state when Aberdeen bar and nightclub operators, The Epic Group bought the building. It is now a nightclub called "The Priory." In 1898, Souttar became the founding president of The Aberdeen Society of Architects.[2] References1. ^Dictionary of Scottish Architects, 2008-09-16 {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Souttar, James}}{{Scotland-artist-stub}}{{UK-architect-stub}}2. ^About The Aberdeen Society of Architects {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080519132420/http://www.aberdeenarchitects.org/about.html |date=19 May 2008 }}, 2008-09-16 7 : 1840 births|1922 deaths|19th-century Scottish architects|20th-century Scottish architects|Architects from Aberdeen|Scottish expatriates in Sweden|Fellows of the Royal Institute of British Architects |
