She is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Laskowa. She is located approximately {{convert|8|km|mi|0}} north of Limanowa and {{convert|50|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south-east of the regional capital Kraków.^[1]

Name

The local tale suggests that King with his people found here a hazel forest and ordered to build the village, calling her "wieś Laskowa" literally village of hazel.
