FoundationYouth Fight for Jobs was launched through a 'March for Jobs',[8] in the tradition of the Jarrow Marchers, to the G20 on 2 April. It held a foundation conference in May 2009. ActivitiesSince its foundation, the organisation has been attempting to raise awareness of the issues surrounding youth unemployment and creating local groups to campaign for action on these issues. On 28 November 2009, YFJ organised a national demonstration in London with over 1000 participants.[9] To mark the 75th anniversary of the Jarrow March on 1 October 2011, YFJ began a 330-mile march from Jarrow in South Tyneside to London to highlight youth unemployment.,[10] with the support of several MPs[11] and the backing of eight national trade unions.[12] YFJ also marched from Merthyr Tydfil to Cardiff starting 4 August 2011 to highlight that Merthyr Tydfil had the fourth highest level of youth unemployment in Britain.[13][14] References1. ^Public and Commercial Services Union support 2. ^Rail Maritime and Transport Union support {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20091203113126/http://www.rmt.org.uk/Templates/Internal.asp?NodeID=128403 |date=3 December 2009}} 3. ^Communication Workers Union support {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100613075051/http://www.cwu.org/youth-fight-for-jobs.html |date=13 June 2010}} 4. ^Unite and UCU add their support to Youth Fight for Jobs {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718144812/http://www.youthfightforjobs.com/article/7027 |date=18 July 2011}} 5. ^Unite and UCU add their support to Youth Fight for Jobs {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718144812/http://www.youthfightforjobs.com/article/7027 |date=18 July 2011}} 6. ^Youth Fight for Jobs: Campaign moving forward 7. ^Conference 2009 Emergency propositions {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100406063513/http://www.bectu.org.uk/news/229 |date=6 April 2010}} 8. ^March for Jobs {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718144021/http://www.youthfightforjobs.com/article/6874 |date=18 July 2011}} 9. ^BBC News, Young Protestors March for Jobs - Retrieved 25/12/09 10. ^[https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-15135644 BBC News, Unemployment campaigners recreate 1936 Jarrow March] 11. ^Parliament.uk Early day motion 1614 - Retrieved 23/02/11 12. ^Marching for a Future - We have received the support of eight national trade unions – Unite, UCU, Bectu, CWU, TSSA, RMT, PCS and the FBU {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111003201553/http://jarrowmarch11.com/2011/09/28/marching-for-a-future/ |date=3 October 2011}} 13. ^Why we’re marching; Merthyr Tydfil {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120328051740/http://jarrowmarch11.com/2011/07/13/why-were-marching-merthyr-tydfil/ |date=28 March 2012}} 14. ^[https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-14392584 BBC News - Young protesters' jobs march from Merthyr to Cardiff] External links
