The album was recorded at Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire from January to March 1995. BackgroundThe album was a major shift in direction from previous album Troublegum, moving away from punk-metal to create a broad epic cinematic soundscape, with the songs being linked by ambient music pieces from Belfast D.J. David Holmes. The album also contains a vocals-and-cellos version of "Diane" by American punk band Hüsker Dü, which also became a single.[5] The cellist, Martin McCarrick, later joined Therapy? for several albums. It was the final album to feature the original 3 piece line-up, as drummer Fyfe Ewing departed in January 1996 following the European leg of the Infernal Love tour. The album reached number 9 in the UK Albums Chart.[6] ReleasesThe album was originally released on limited edition red 12” vinyl, CD and Cassette. The Japanese release did not feature the "insanity" links by David Holmes, but included two bonus tracks. A remastered CD version of the album by Harvey Birrell was included in The Gemil Box, released on 18 November 2013. A two-disc Deluxe Edition version of Infernal Love was released by Universal Music on 31 March 2014.[7] Sonysphere FestivalThe band performed this album in its entirety at Sonisphere 2014.[8] Track listing{{Tracklist| total_length = 48:44 | title1 = Epilepsy | writer1 = Cairns | length1 = 3:50 | title2 = Stories | writer2 = Cairns, McKeegan | length2 = 3:11 | title3 = A Moment of Clarity | writer3 = Cairns | length3 = 6:02 | title4 = Jude the Obscene | writer4 = Cairns | length4 = 3:32 | title5 = Bowels of Love | writer5 = Cairns | length5 = 2:53 | title6 = Misery | writer6 = Cairns | length6 = 3:40 | title7 = Bad Mother | writer7 = Cairns, McCarrick | length7 = 5:46 | title8 = Me Vs You | writer8 = Cairns | length8 = 6:24 | title9 = Loose | writer9 = Cairns | length9 = 3:00 | title10 = Diane | writer10 = Grant Hart | length10 = 5:00 | title11 = 30 Seconds | writer11 = Cairns | length11 = 5:25 }}{{Tracklist | collapsed = yes | headline = Japanese Release | total_length = 50:22 | title1 = Epilepsy | writer1 = Cairns | length1 = 3:22 | title2 = Stories | writer2 = Cairns/McKeegan | length2 = 2:53 | title3 = A Moment of Clarity | writer3 = Cairns | length3 = 4:58 | title4 = Jude the Obscene | writer4 = Cairns | length4 = 3:32 | title5 = Bowels of Love | writer5 = Cairns | length5 = 2:55 | title6 = Misery | writer6 = Cairns | length6 = 3:13 | title7 = Bad Mother | writer7 = Cairns/McCarrick | length7 = 4:14 | title8 = Me Vs You | writer8 = Cairns | length8 = 4:59 | title9 = Loose | writer9 = Cairns | length9 = 3:12 | title10 = Diane | writer10 = Hart | length10 = 4:00 | title11 = 30 Seconds | writer11 = Cairns | length11 = 5:13 | title12 = Misery | note12 = Acoustic Version | writer12 = Cairns | length12 = 3:10 | title13 = Isolation | note13 = Consolidated Synth Mix | writer13 = Curtis/Sumner/Hook/Morris | length13 = 4:41 }}{{Track listing | collapsed = yes | headline = Deluxe Edition Disc 2 | title1 = Misery (Acoustic Version) | note1 = Diane single | length1 = | title2 = Die Laughing (Acoustic Version) | note2 = Diane single | length2 = | title3 = Screamager (Acoustic Version) | note3 = Diane single | length3 = | title4 = Jude the Obscene (Acoustic Version) | note4 = Diane single | length4 = | title5 = Loose (Acoustic Version) | note5 = Diane single | length5 = | title6 = 30 Seconds (Acoustic Version) | note6 = Diane single | length6 = | title7 = Our Love Must Die | note7 = Loose single | length7 = | title8 = Nice Guys | note8 = Loose single | length8 = | title9 = Loose (Photek Remix) | note9 = Loose single | length9 = | title10 = Die Laughing (Live) | note10 = Loose single | length10 = | title11 = Nowhere (Live) | note11 = Loose single | length11 = | title12 = Unbeliever (Live) | note12 = Loose single | length12 = | title13 = Knives (Live) | note13 = Misery US promo single | length13 = | title14 = Stories (Live) | note14 = Misery US promo single | length14 = | title15 = Innocent X (Remix) | note15 = Split single w/ Orbital | length15 = | title16 = Disgracelands (Acoustic Version) | note16 = Bad Mother single | length16 = | title17 = Diane (Acoustic Version) | note17 = Bad Mother single | length17 = | title18 = Opal Mantra (Acoustic Version) | note18 = Bad Mother single | length18 = | total_length = 78:00 }} Personnel
