He had been Chair of the Economics Department. He was awarded the 2011 John Bates Clark Medal.[3] He is the son of former Yale University President Richard Levin.[4] Academic careerLevin received his BA and BS degrees from Stanford University in 1994, an MPhil in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford in 1996, and his PhD in Economics from MIT in 1999.[5] He was a post-doctoral scholar at the Cowles Foundation at Yale University, and began teaching at Stanford in 2000. His research is in the field of Industrial Organization.
