The 71st Battalion, CEF was an infantry battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the Great War. The 71st Battalion was authorized on 1 April 1916 and embarked for Great Britain on 1 April 1916. It provided reinforcements to the Canadian Corps in the field until 30 September 1916, when its personnel were absorbed by the '44th', '54th' and '74th Battalion(s), CEF'. The battalion was disbanded on 11 April 1918.[1] The 71st Battalion recruited in and was mobilized in Woodstock, Ontario.[2] The 71st Battalion had four Officers Commanding:
