  • October 20: Sidney Smith, American comics artist (The Gumps, Old Doc Yak, Ching Chow), dies at age 58 in a car accident.[7]
  • October 21: Joseph Charlebois, Canadian comics artist (Père Ladébauche), passes away at age 63.[8]

  • December 25: Ed Mack, American comics artist (Sime the Simp, continued Mutt and Jeff), dies at age 64. [9]
