}}Mayaan Ziv is an activist, a photographer and an entrepreneur based in Toronto, Canada, she founded AccessNow in 2015, a crowdsourced app that maps and provides information about the accessibility status of locations worldwide.^[1][2]

She has since been a regular media commentator in the media on topics such as disability and inclusion^[1][3]. In 2016 Ziv was a recipient of the City of Toronto Access Award and the David C. Onley Leadership in Accessibility Award in recognition of activists who are working to break down barriers to equality in the city of Toronto alongside activists who are developing innovative solutions and commitment to improving the lives of people of all abilities^{[2] [4]}.

As a photographer, she has worked with celebrities, fashion models and other influential individuals. Focusing on black and white emotive portraiture, editorial fashion, and gritty street scenes, and for her work received a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal recipient- her work has been featured on television, in galleries and magazines^[1].

Ziv advises the Clerk of the Privy Council of Canada and is a board member of the Toronto Arts Council and Toronto’s Centre for Independent Living. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Radio and Television Arts and a Master's degree in Digital Media at Ryerson University (RTA 2012)^[5].

Early Life

Ziv was born with muscular dystrophy and has used a wheelchair since she was a child^[6].
