HistoryThe foundation stone was laid on 19 April 1881 by Mr. Fitzherbert Wright.[1] The architect was Mr. H. Turner of New Court Chambers, 57 Chancery Lane, London, and the contractor was G. Hewitt of London Road, Derby. The church was consecrated on 5 June 1882 by Rt. Revd. Augustus Legge, the Bishop of Lichfield.[2] Pevsner described the church as rock faced with an east bell-turret. A typical 'railway church.[3] It was closed on 1 January 1995 and demolished in 1996. In 1996 the four parishes of St James’, Derby, St Augustine’s, Derby and St Thomas’, Derby were united as the new parish of Walbrook Epiphany.
