释义 |
Eye is a small village in the county of Herefordshire, England, in the River Lugg catchment, north of Leominster and south of Ludlow. Berrington Hall is nearby; a Henry Holland house with Capability Brown landscape, built for Thomas Harley. The village of Eye neighbours Luston, another small north Herefordshire village. Eye has a historic small church with a square tower and some wonderful effigies; beside it is Eye Manor, noted for its fine decorated plaster ceilings. Admiral James Vashon (1742 – 1827) was born here. There is a village hall — the Cawley Hall — named after the local Cawley family. RailwaysThe Welsh Marches Line runs through the currently closed Berrington and Eye railway station, which previously served the village. The station opened on 6 December 1853 and closed on 9 June 1958. [1] External links{{Commons category inline|Eye, Herefordshire|Eye}}
