Based upon an annual parallax shift of 17.90 mas as seen from Earth,[1] this star is located about 182 light years from the Sun. It is bright enough to be visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.41.[2] It is moving away from the Sun with a radial velocity of +15.6 km/s.[5] This is an evolved K-type giant star with a stellar classification of K1 III.[3] At the age of 2.47[9] billion years it is a red clump star on the horizontal branch,[6] which means it is generating energy through helium fusion at its core. The star has 1.60[6] times the mass of the Sun and it has expanded to 12[7] times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 72[2] times the Sun's luminosity from its enlarged photosphere at an effective temperature of 4,578 K[9] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite journal | arxiv=0708.1752 | bibcode=2007A&A...474..653V | doi=10.1051/0004-6361:20078357 | title=Validation of the new Hipparcos reduction | journal=Astronomy and Astrophysics | volume=474 | issue=2 | pages=653–664 | year=2007 | last1=Van Leeuwen | first1=F. }} Vizier catalog entry {{Stars of Sculptor}}2. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite journal | bibcode=2012AstL...38..331A | doi=10.1134/S1063773712050015 | arxiv=1108.4971 | title=XHIP: An extended hipparcos compilation | journal=Astronomy Letters | volume=38 | issue=5 | pages=331 | year=2012 | last1=Anderson | first1=E. | last2=Francis | first2=Ch. }} Vizier catalog entry 3. ^1 {{cite journal | bibcode=1995yCat.5050....0H | title=VizieR Online Data Catalog: Bright Star Catalogue, 5th Revised Ed.
