Rhodes was the first member of the North Carolina House to call for the resignation of Speaker James B. Black, after Black was accused of ethics violations and malfeasance. Though Rhodes' impact in the case is open to debate, Black later resigned from the House after winning re-election in 2006 and was convicted on state and federal charges in 2007. Rhodes resides in Lexington, Ky and is also a Pastor of a progressive Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, called K.O.H.A., which is Kingdom Of Heaven Assembly.
