After a round of crowdsourced funding in 2013,[6] the company moved forward with a working prototype. Further support came from University College London and a successful Kickstarter campaign.[7] The company began full-scale production in 2018. JIVR’s first branded retail location is scheduled to open in Frankfurt, Germany in 2019.
