Centerville is a city in Houston County, Georgia, United States. The city is a part of the larger Macon-Warner Robins Combined Statistical Area. It was incorporated March 25, 1958. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 7,148,[5] up from 4,278 in 2000. It is a bedroom community nearby the larger cities of Warner Robins and Macon.

Name

Contrary to popular belief, Centerville owes its name not to its geographical position within the state of Georgia, but its position between County seat of Bibb County (Macon) and the county Seat of Houston County (Perry).[4] Historically, it is also located centrally between that of Wellston (today's Warner Robins) and Byron. It was a stagecoach stop in 1846 with the name of Centerville.

The city is home to the Galleria Mall,[7] the largest mall in the Warner Robins area and the second largest in the Macon metropolitan area, after the Macon Mall. There are over 50 stores located within the mall, and its anchor stores include JCPenney and Belk, and formerly had a Sears that closed in April 2018. The mall is connected to the Galleria Mall Stadium Cinemas which, after an addition of new screens, is the primary movie theater in the area that shows new and current releases.[8]
