Mohammed Hamdi al-Ahdal is a citizen of Saudi Arabia who played a role in the attack on the French supertanker MV Limburg.[1][2] The attack occurred in October 2002, in the Gulf of Aden, off Yemen. One Bulgarian crew member was killed.[3] Twelve crew members were injured. 90,000 tonnes of oil were spilled. Al-Ahdal was captured in Yemen on November 25, 2003. During the 90s' he fought in Bosnia and Chechnya. According to Global Security Al-Ahdal was born in 1971, and received a three-year sentence.[1] The Prosecution appealed, because they thought the original sentence was too lenient.[3] However, the original sentence was upheld. Fawaz al-Rabihi, also convicted of a role in the bombing, received a life sentence.[4]References1. ^1 {{cite news| url=http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/profiles/mohammed_hamdi_al-ahdal.htm| title=Mohammed Hamdi al-Ahdal: Al-Qaeda Terrorist Operations Facilitator| publisher=Global Security| accessdate=2007-12-26}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Ahdal, Mohammed Hamdi al}}2. ^{{cite news| url=http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/profiles/limburg_oil_tanker_attacked.htm| title=Limburg oil tanker attacked| publisher=Global Security| accessdate=2007-12-26}} 3. ^{{cite news| url=http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/11/18/africa/ME_GEN_Yemen_Terror_trial.php| title=Appeals court upholds prison sentence of al-Qaida operative in Yemen| publisher=International Herald Tribune| author=| date=November 18, 2006| accessdate=2007-12-26}} 4. ^1 {{cite news| url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5396862.stm| title=Al-Qaeda fugitive killed in Yemen| publisher=BBC| date= 1 October 2006| accessdate=2007-12-26}} 5 : 1971 births|Year of birth uncertain|Living people|Saudi Arabian people|Saudi Arabian al-Qaeda members |
