He took office on 29 May 1999.[1] Upon his arrival at the Senate, in June 1999, he was appointed to committees on Selection, Senate Services, Solid Minerals, Banking & Currency and Education.[2] In December 2003 Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir, outgoing national chairman of Alliance for Democracy party wrote to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) naming Akinfenwa as the new national chairman.[3] The party had split into two rival factions, with the other led by Chief Bisi Akande. In February 2004 the INEC summoned a meeting of AD leaders that excluded the two rival chairman in an effort to resolve the situation.[4] Continued efforts to resolve the split were ineffective.[5] The Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, threw its weight behind Akinfenwa, a move criticized at a meeting of former AD Governors of South-West states in August 2004.[6] In a February 2006 interview Akinfenwa continued to insist that he was the AD chairman, not Akande.[7] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://psephos.adam-carr.net/countries/n/nigeria/nigerialeg2.txt |title=FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA LEGISLATIVE ELECTION OF 20 FEBRUARY AND 7 MARCH 1999 |work=Psephos |accessdate=2010-06-24}} {{Nigerian Senators of the 4th National Assembly}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Akinfenwa, Moji}}{{Nigeria-politician-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url = http://www.nigeriacongress.org/assembly/committees1.htm |title = Congressional Committees |publisher = Nigeria Congress |accessdate = 2010-06-24 |deadurl = yes |archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20091118151316/http://www.nigeriacongress.org/assembly/committees1.htm |archivedate = 2009-11-18 |df = }} 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://news.biafranigeriaworld.com/archive/2003/dec/18/015.html |title=AD: Abdulkadir Writes INEC, Says Akinfenwa is New Chairman |author=Chuks Okocha |work=This Day |date=2003-12-18 |accessdate=2010-06-24}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://news.biafranigeriaworld.com/archive/2004/feb/10/059.html |title=AD Crisis: INEC Wades in, Summons Koleosho's Exco - Disowns Akinfenwa, Akande factions |author=Chuks Okocha and Tokunbo Adedoja |work=ThisDay |accessdate=2010-06-24}} 5. ^{{cite web |url=http://news.biafranigeriaworld.com/archive/2004/aug/27/113.html |title=AD: Akinfenwa Faction Waves Olive Branch |author=Chuks Okocha |work=ThisDay |accessdate=2010-06-24}} 6. ^{{cite web |url=http://news.biafranigeriaworld.com/archive/2004/aug/27/071.html |title=3 ex-AD govs back fresh convention |work=Daily Champion |author=WALE FOLARIN and VINCENT EGUNYANGA |date=27 August 2004 |accessdate=2010-06-24}} 7. ^{{cite web |url=http://odili.net/news/source/2006/feb/5/602.html |work=Daily Independent Online. |date=February 4, 2006 |title=I have never received a kobo from OBJ |author=Gbenga Faturoti |accessdate=2010-06-24}} {{Dead link|date=October 2010|bot=H3llBot}} 8 : Members of the Senate (Nigeria)|Living people|Yoruba politicians|People from Osun State|Alliance for Democracy (Nigeria) politicians|20th-century Nigerian politicians|21st-century Nigerian politicians|Year of birth missing (living people) |
