It is native to southeastern United States, where it is widespread.[3] Its typical natural habitat is wet bottomland forest, although it is also found in rich mesic forests in the Appalachian Mountains.[1]Decumaria barbara is a high-climbing woody vine. It has adventitious roots and glossy, opposite leaves. It produces small white flowers in late spring and early summer.[1][4] The only other member of this genus is Decumaria sinensis, of central China.[4] GalleryReferences1. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=http://www.herbarium.unc.edu/flora.htm |title= Flora of the Southern and Mid-Atlantic States |author= Alan Weakley |date= 2015}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q15337547}}2. ^{{PLANTS|id=DEBA4|taxon=Decumaria barbara|accessdate=3 January 2018}} 3. ^{{BONAP|ref|genus=Decumaria|species=barbara|accessdate=16 December 2017}} 4. ^1 Flora of North America, Decumaria barbara 1 : Hydrangeaceae |
