During that time he has won one All-Ireland winners' medal, two Leinster winners' medals and one National Football League winners' medal. In 1962 Sheehy captained the team to the All-Ireland title. At club level Sheehy won five consecutive county club championship winners' medals with John Mitchels. Sheehy's brothers Niall and Paudie also played with Kerry while his father, John Joe Sheehy, also captained Kerry to All-Ireland glory.
