释义 |
The Yilgarn Iron Produces Association is a consortium of 11 iron ore companies (9 listed) who seek to cooperatively develop rail and port infrastructure to enable their ore deposits to be exploited. OverviewThe Yilgarn zone is located about {{convert|100|km|0|abbr=on}} north of Leonora, itself {{convert|200|km|0|abbr=on}} north of Kalgoorlie. The port of Esperance is located about {{convert|300|km|0|abbr=on}} to the south of Kalgoorlie. A medium strength standard gauge railway connects Leonora and Esperence, and this would have to be upgraded with heavier rail and additional crossing loops to handle the envisage heavier traffic. Rail extensions from Leonora to the various mines would be required, plus upgrade of port facilities.[1] Smaller deposits would be connected to the nearest railhead by roadtrain.[2] See also
