She is the daughter of DA Melinda Trask and a member of the Johnson family through her marriage to Tripp Dalton, the son of Steve Johnson and Ava Vitali. Her storyline focuses on dealing with being an illegal immigrant and falling for JJ Deveraux. CastingIn 2018, it was reported that Thia Megia has joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Haley Chen.[1] She debuted on December 20, 2018.[2] StorylinesHaley first showed up in Salem in December 2018 after she was found unconscious by JJ Deveraux at the University hospital where she works as a nurse. She had attempted suicide, but was saved by JJ. JJ invites Haley as his date to the Horton Foundation’s New Years Eve Party at Doug’s Place. As she walks in, she overhears J.J. telling Jennifer that Haley needs help and he would like for her to meet Eric for counseling. Haley storms off, but J.J. chases after her and apologizes for overstepping any boundaries. They ring in 2019 together, only for the celebration to be interrupted by Eve Donovan bringing back J.J.’s presumed dead father Jack. The next day at the hospital, Haley overhears her boss Dr. Kayla Johnson being upset with J.J. for not reporting Haley’s suicide attempt. Haley didn’t hear the entire conversation and immediately feels betrayed and believes J.J. told Kayla. Kayla and J.J. reassure Haley that he didn’t say anything and it was another nurse who came forward. Kayla has no choice but to take Haley off of the nursing floor until the matter is resolved. Haley apologizes to J.J. but he insists there is nothing to for her to apologize for and instead apologizes to Haley for the dramatic New Year’s Eve Party. Later on at the hospital, J.J. overhears Haley on her phone telling someone “Don’t worry. I won’t say anything to Dr. Johnson.” Kayla eventually agrees to let Haley keep her job if she gets counseling from Marlena. If Haley refuses to get counseling from Marlena Kayla will fire her. Haley is the younger sister of Melinda Trask. Haley starts trusting JJ, and finally reveals to him about being an illegal immigrant from China and having a sister called Melinda Trask in Salem, asking him to keep it a secret. In February 2019, she and JJ share their first kiss, followed by second and they were about to make love when JJ's mother interrupts them by showing up at JJs apartment. She shows Haley and JJ the wedding pictures of Chad and Abigail before leaving. During the Mayor elections day, Jack Deveraux let's out a secret about Haley being an undocumented immigrant in USA which makes Haley furious and she confronts JJ over breaking her trust and sharing the secret with her dad when she had repeatedly asked him not to tell anyone. She goes on a hideout and stays at Tripp Daltons apartment with Ciara Brady and Claire Brady for a few days. Before Tripp's jealous girlfriend Claire gives Eve the address of Haleys hideout. Haley is arrested by the cops and taken to the police station. Feeling lonely and scared of being deported back to China and falsefully accused of poisoning Marlena Evans she felt like there was no hope for her. That's when JJ Deveraux showed up with a lawyer, his uncle Justin Kirikis to assist Haley, furious Haley refuses to accept his help at first, but after Eli shows up to take her to court, that's when she accepts JJs help and Justin as her lawyer. After the court session, Justin shares with Haley that she's getting deported. Disturbed by her fate, and the fear of leaving the country. JJ offers to marry her, but she turns down his marriage proposal believing it will cause more trouble for her legally.
