It was located near Engozero and Ambarnyy, {{convert|47|km|sp=us}} southeast of Loukhi in northern Karelia,[1], and first appeared on United States Department of Defense Global Navigation Charts in the 1970s.{{citation needed|date=October 2013}} Engozero was closed and the majority of the air base no longer exists.
