The album garnered positive reviews and is often considered the band's best work alongside Z. The song "Run Thru" is included in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitar Songs".[1] The album also marks the first appearance of drummer Patrick Hallahan, as well as the final appearances of guitarist Johnny Quaid and keyboardist Danny Cash. The album was remixed and reissued by ATO Records in May 2016.[2] Album artThe album cover and art work for It Still Moves shows one of the giant stuffed bears that are always displayed on stage when the band performs live. Drummer Patrick Hallahan told Rolling Stone magazine that "[the bears are] our spirit animal guides. They make sure we're going in the right direction." And Two-Tone Tommy's thumping bass riff proved guitars don't get all the best licks. And when Carl Broemel replaced Quaid in 2004, 'Run Thru' got heavier live — like 'Free Bird' and 'Kashmir' combined." 2. ^{{cite news |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/04/arts/music/my-morning-jacket-it-still-moves-reissue.html |title=Jim James of My Morning Jacket on Lifting a ‘Wet Blanket’ Off a 2003 Album |newspaper=The New York Times |location=New York |date=April 3, 2016 |accessdate=April 8, 2016 |last=Chinen |first=Nate}} 3. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://www.metacritic.com/music/it-still-moves/my-morning-jacket |title=Reviews for It Still Moves by Morning Jacket |publisher=Metacritic |accessdate=July 3, 2010}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/it-still-moves-mw0000314955 |title=It Still Moves – My Morning Jacket |publisher=AllMusic |accessdate=July 3, 2010 |last=Jurek |first=Thom}} 5. ^{{cite journal |url=http://www.blender.com/guide/reviews.aspx?id=1668 |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Blender |issue=19 |date=September 2003 |accessdate=February 27, 2016 |last=Salamon |first=Jeff |page=126 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20060103201558/http://www.blender.com/guide/reviews.aspx?id=1668 |archivedate=January 3, 2006}} 6. ^{{cite journal |url=http://www.ew.com/article/2003/08/22/youth-young-manhoodit-still-moves |title=Youth & Young Manhood / It Still Moves |work=Entertainment Weekly |date=August 22, 2003 |accessdate=December 28, 2015 |last=Farber |first=Jim}} 7. ^{{cite journal |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Q |issue=119 |date=October 2003 |page=106}} 8. ^{{cite web |url=http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/5531-it-still-moves/ |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Pitchfork |date=September 17, 2003 |accessdate=July 3, 2010 |last=Tangari |first=Joe}} 9. ^{{cite journal |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Q |issue=207 |date=October 2003 |page=111}} 10. ^{{cite journal |url=https://www.rollingstone.com/artists/mymorningjacket/albums/album/297306/review/5941353/it_still_moves |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Rolling Stone |issue=932 |date=October 2, 2003 |accessdate=July 3, 2010 |last=Fricke |first=David |authorlink=David Fricke |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20071002050150/http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/mymorningjacket/albums/album/297306/review/5941353/it_still_moves |archivedate=October 2, 2007}} 11. ^{{cite journal |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=GsC7vOTAWQAC&pg=PA109 |title=My Morning Macket: It Still Moves |work=Spin |volume=19 |issue=9 |date=September 2003 |accessdate=February 27, 2016 |last=Crain |first=Zac |page=109}} 12. ^{{cite journal |title=My Morning Jacket: It Still Moves |work=Uncut |issue=76 |date=September 2003 |page=102}} 13. ^1 {{cite news |url=http://www.robertchristgau.com/xg/cg/cgv903-03.php |title=Consumer Guide: Shadows in the Cave |newspaper=The Village Voice |location=New York |date=September 16, 2003 |accessdate=October 3, 2015 |last=Christgau |first=Robert |authorlink=Robert Christgau}} 14. ^{{cite web |archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20160430151341/http://hitsdailydouble.com/new_album_releases |archivedate= April 30, 2016 |url=http://hitsdailydouble.com/new_album_releases |title=Upcoming Releases |website=Hits Daily Double |publisher=HITS Digital Ventures }} External links
